Resolution , looking ahead

My New Years resolution. The ancient Babylonians are said to have been the first people to make New Year’s  resolutions some 4000 years ago. The New Year began not in January but mid March when the crops were planted. I would be happy if my resolutions made  it to mid march . Emperor Julias Caesar established January 1st as the beginning of the new year in 46B.C. Named for Janus the two-faced god. No not that kind of two faced, insincere and deceitful ,like some people i have known. The Romans believed the two faced god looked to the future and the past year.

Janus might well be the god for transgender folks, looking forward to what we hope for in the coming year, yet, looking back at another year of disappointment for not either transitioning or the hesitancy,  to start. Oh Janus and I have been friends for years, my secret resolution to attack the new year like a tiger and start transitioning , then when Janus and I would  meet again  at the end of the December , New Years Eve . I was feeling more like the cowardly lion confronting the Great Oz as we looked back to the year that had passed.

This year i attacked 2021 like a tiger while simultaneously learning to dance. To dance as though no one is watching. There’s no cowardly lion this year. I’ve finally have had the year , finally fulfilled my resolution , that same resolution I had made  for 45 years  and the side benefit of learning to dance, not afraid of what others might think anymore.. .

The year of the Tiger ,February 1st the Chinese New Year. This is the year of Water Tiger which happens every 60 years .This Chinese zodiac sign is known for its boldness  for doing things big . Water is the most yin of the five elements the most female. This year is about going big or going home . This year when Janus and I meet on New Years Eve , i’ll be toasting the resolution i finally kept and  one or two for this year. I couldn’t think of a better year for anyone looking forward, than the year of the Tiger. Ladies see how far and big you can go in 2022.
