I Am What I Am – Celebrating Personal Identities Through Creative Expression

Come join us for this exciting program with writing and visual arts exercises designed to help find your voice, and to develop your unique story, resulting in works that express your personal identity that you may choose to share with the broader community.

Jeffrey Stocker & Timothy Moreland – writing coaches who will guide you through 6 writing sessions. Robyn Oakes & Barbara Fiore (guest artist) – visual arts coaches who will guide you through 6 visual arts sessions involving colorful collage, clay sculpting, fabric & cardboard construction, and sketch/paint projects. Jennifer Castner (MA in Psychology & Counseling) will join some sessions as emotional guide for the project.

Who: Candidates will comprise a teen group (13 – 18) and an adult group. Each candidate can choose to participate in 6 writing sessions, 6 visual arts sessions, or both. Participants must commit to attending each session of their chosen art form. Space is limited.

When: Saturdays, starting February 1, 2025, from 11:00 – 2:30 for both writing and visual arts sessions. Session1 from 11:00 – 12:30; Session2 from 1:00 – 2:30

Schedule: February 1, *skip February 8*, February 15 up to & including March 15.
Session1 – DVA! – Teen Group – Writing – available to 10 candidates
Session2 – DVA! – Adult Group – Writing –available to 10 candidates

Session1 – TriVersity – Adult Group – Visual Arts – available to 8 candidates
Session2 – TriVersity – Teen Group – Visual Arts – available to 8 candidates

A Presentation Event will be scheduled in March or April to share the resulting works with friends, family, and the community. Participants can choose to present, have a secondary reader, or opt out as they prefer.

Empowerment photographs will be captured during the program resulting in a framed portrait chosen from a set of digital images.
