More on Riqi: Riqi Vélez is a Yankee-born, North Carolina raised, towering Ecuadorian, Gay man who has been influenced all his life by the Royalty of Pop music & oddity of its eclectic culture. He is a singer-songwriter that lost his way in his early days of living in the concrete jungle, but thankfully found sight of the brass rings once again after having an awakening after going through a heart-breaking divorce that left him devastated. Having performed all over New York City and throughout the Atlantic East Coast, these days Riqi finds himself in the nonprofit world. During the trying times in the World of Pandemia, he lost more friends than cares to recollect. Because of this, he decided to change his field of work from Corporate Retail for one of the top Fashion labels in the U.S., to giving his time to those who need it. From making the rich man richer, he now is a Health Educator, Outreach Counselor, and Specials Events Coordinator for ACQC (The AIDS Center of Queens County). He continues to share his gifts with anyone that is in need and looks forward to one day opening an organization of his own.
